About this event

Dataset Publishing and Compliance

This is an online workshop which will be held on zoom. A zoom link will be sent out to registered participants prior to the workshop.

Sharon Webb, Adam Harwood and Helen Webb will be running this free workshop, aimed at all researchers interested in creating and publishing datasets associated with their research.

Funding bodies are placing increasing emphasis on data archiving in humanities research. The workshop will have a practical emphasis, aimed at helping you prepare data for deposit into a data archive or repository, to comply with grant applications requirements. We'll examine the concept of metadata and its importance in describing and archiving digital objects and data, in ways which will benefit future researchers and other users. The workshop will also touch upon the importance of digital preservation, and introduce you to current university infrastructures that can help you to publish your data.

Who is this for?

The workshop is aimed primarily at humanities researchers, but is open to all. Participants from outside of the University of Sussex are also welcome.

Do I need to have been to the other workshops in the series?

No – this workshop functions as a standalone.

What do I need to bring?

You'll need an internet-connected laptop running zoom to attend the workshop. There is no need to install any additional software ahead of time.
