Description

Recreating the Computing Past: reconstruction, simulation and hybrid approaches

Workshop Leader: Ben Roberts, Alexander Peverett (SHL)

In recent times media researchers have become interested in reexperiencing the computing past in order to inform and/or critique the digital media present. This workshop will look at different methods for reconstructing and experiencing that past. These range from repairing and operating actual machines, through simulating old computers on modern hardware to what we are calling a ‘hybrid’ approach which blends simulation with recreated physical interfaces.

If you have any questions about this workshop please email the series convenor, Ben Roberts, in the first instance: b.l.roberts@sussex.ac.uk
