Please note: To join this workshop you or your business needs to reside within one of the following GM local authorities: Bolton, Bury, Oldham, Manchester, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside or Trafford, Wigan.

You also need to be: The owner of a business OR an aspiring entrepreneur with a business idea you want to develop.

Shopify: An Introduction to Running your Store Online

This workshop is designed to give participants a comprehensive introduction to websites—from understanding their purpose to mastering the technical elements that make them successful. Whether you’re starting fresh or looking to improve an existing site, this session will provide the essential knowledge and practical skills you need.

This workshop is designed to help participants master Shopify’s core building blocks and gain the confidence to run a professional, conversion‑ready online store. Through practical guidance and hands‑on learning, you’ll explore the platform’s most important features and learn how to configure them correctly for long‑term success.

What You’ll Learn

  • Shopify’s core building blocks: Products, Collections, Theme, Checkout, and Settings
  • Configuring essential settings: Payments, shipping, taxes, domains, and legal pages
  • Conversion‑ready design: Structuring your Homepage and Product pages to maximize sales
  • Marketing foundations: Setting up email capture, basic SEO, and analytics for growth

Outcomes

By the end of this workshop, you will:

  • Understand how to build and customize your Shopify store with confidence
  • Be able to configure critical settings to ensure smooth operations and compliance
  • Apply proven conversion strategies to your store’s design and product presentation
  • Establish lightweight but effective marketing foundations to attract and retain customers
