Warm Up

Basics


Learn the fundamental punches, kicks, blocks, and movements that you need. Repetition allows them to become instinctive.

Meditation and Philosophy


Calm the mind and learn some interesting martial arts philosophy.

Techniques


You'll work with others at your own experience level to learn how to deal with particular attacks - both strikes and grabs.

Other Sections


Randori (sparring), embu (demonstrations) or seiho (healing techniques). There isn't enough time to do everything so we rotate around.

About this event

You will learn some awesome kick-ass moves, while also getting fit, meeting new people, and having a lot of fun!

The class contains both "hard" techniques (punches and kicks) and "soft" techniques (pins and throws). We also do meditation and philosophy, and a form of pressure point massage.

Monday classes are usually taught by Sensei Nicki (5th Dan, she/her), who also teaches on Saturdays at our other location. Sensei Mike (5th Dan, he/him) usually teaches on Fridays at Totterdown.

Frequently asked questions

What should I wear?

Comfortable exercise clothes. Make sure you have no sharp bits like belt buckles, and take off watches and dangly earrings. You can keep your glasses though! We train barefoot.

What should I bring?

Yourself, some enthusiasm, and a water bottle.

Is there an age limit?

We take students age 14+. There is no upper age limit!

What should I do before class?

If this is your first class, you need to fill in the insurance form. Your first month of insurance is free, and the link to the form will be in your ticket information.
