Description

Come and join us in Plymouth for a fascinating hands-on introduction to life on the rocky shore!

Running for the third year, this 2 day course takes place 9:00 am to 17:00 on Monday the 6th November and 09:00 am to 17:00 -Tuesday 7th November 2017.

Course Description: A basic introduction to the main groups of animal and seaweeds likely to be found on British rocky shores. This introduction will include an explanation of key identification methods, species confusions as well as a more in-depth look at some commonly found species. Through interactive lectures and demonstrations, field, and laboratory sessions, participants will become familiar with common species and learn how to identify and record rocky shore finds.

Course Tutor: Jack Sewell - The Marine Biological Association. Jack has more than 15 years experience working on the rocky shore and has a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm about the wide range of organisms you will encounter.

Who should attend? This course caters for those interested in rocky shore species at beginner - intermediate level but welcomes more experienced naturalists interested in brushing up their skills. Also suitable for teachers and marine educators, wishing to incorporate rocky shore work in their lessons and activities.

What is included? The course fee includes course materials, Certificate of attendance, packed lunch and tea and coffee throughout. By paying to participate in this course, you will be supporting the wider educational work of the Marine Biological Association.

Parking: There are a small number of parking spaces available and these are bookable on a first-come-first-served basis. Other parking is available nearby and public transport links to the lab are good,

Refund Policy: Cancelations received 10 days or more before the event will be refunded in full. Cancelations after this time will be refunded if the place on the course can be filled, otherwise the following will apply: 10 - 5 days before the event will receive a 50% refund on the total course cost and cancelations received within five days of the event will not automatically be entitled to a refund.
