Sucessful working industry profesonals will give you the skills in order to make your own independent​ feature film.

About this Event

Giles Alderson is an award-winning filmmaker with a wealth of talent both in front of and behind the camera. He started out acting starring in many TV shows and films before turning his attention to Directing and screenwriting and more recently producing. Giles is a talent that is in great demand.

He joins us after just finishing shooting his new feature 'The Dare' which we also co-wrote starring Richard Brake (Batman Begins, 31) and Bart Edwards (UNreal, Fantastic Beasts) for Millennium Films (Expendables, Hellboy) which will be released in 2019 as will his latest produced films Cassette, a found footage horror movie and the dark comedy 'A Serial Killers Guide to Life' as well as his TV series 'Not For Profit'.

He is currently in prep for his next film and is co-writing a new comedy. He is a positive, proactive person when it comes to passing on his wealth of knowledge and inspiring and educating the next generation of filmmakers.

The Course

1. Development - Writer/Script/Director

2. Financing - Kickstarter, money? Making the mood pack.

3. Packaging - crewing up, casting, audience

4. Pre-production - Hiring, scheduling, insurance, call sheet, safety, release forms, locations, storyboarding, shot lists and much more.

5. Filming - Shooting, camera angles, working with actors, thinking about the edit and picture.

6. Post - Assemble rushes, editing, Picture lock, audio, visuals, grade.

7. Delivery - Contracts, deliverables, accounts, release of Kickstarter gifts

8. Marketing - Press, poster, trailer. newspapers and podcasts to get on IMDb, screenings

9. Festivals – Strategy, when and where to release.

10. Distribution - Where can you distribute the film. How can people see it.

Included:

• 6 nights’ accommodation – private room in villa with swimming pool.

• Full Board (Local wine with evening meal)

• Tea and coffee• 5 days’ tuition

• Price is based on 2 people sharing a double/twin room. We aim to avoid single person supplements, but please check with us as it depends on availability

• Partners not wishing to join in the course (or other organised activity) receive a discount of €250

• Airport transfer or pick-up (Lisbon airport pickup additional €45pp both ways)

Location

The course will be held at the EZ Going Guest House which is a large private villa with swimming pool between the mountains and coast in Sesimbra area of Portugal which offers you a stress free environment in order to concentrate on the course. You are allowed to use all the facilities which included Swimming Pool, BBQ Area, Free WIFI and much more.

Tutor - Giles Alderson

Award winning producer, director and screenwriter Giles Alderson has recently locked picture on his written, directed & produced psychological horror feature film ‘The Dare’ for Nu-Image (Expendables, London has Fallen) and B2Y Productions starring Richard Brake (31, Batman Begins), Alexandra Evans ((Redistributors), Bart Edwards (Fantastic Beasts), Richard Short (Vinyl, Public Enemies), Robert Maaser (M.I 5 Rogue Nation) The film has been picked up Millennium Films (Hellboy, The Hitman’s Bodyguard) And has recently wrapped production on the dark found footage horror feature film Cassette as producer for Parkhouse Pictures starring Harry Jarvis (Free Dance) Nina Wadia (Bend it like Beckham) & Loreece Harrison (Black Mirror)

His feature Documentary World of Darkness that he produced and directed had its world premiere at Sitges Film Festival before it’s international release earlier this year.

He has recently produced Staten Cousins-Roe’s debut feature ‘A Serial Killers Guide To Life’ starring Ben Lloyd Hughes (Divergent) Poppy Roe and Katie Brayben (Dr. Who.

He produced This Way Out for Forward Motion Pictures which was BAFTA long listed and screened at over 30 festivals & acquired by the Sundance Channel. He has directed and produced 8 award winning short films, including, ’Barry Brown', ‘Taken', 'Sports Day 3D', the first live action stereoscopic 3D drama filmed in the UK, and winning best film & best director for his psychological drama ’ 47 Cleveland’. He has screened at Cannes Short Film Corner, won Best Film at the Portobello Film Festival & Accolade Film Festival, Official Selection at LIFF and East End Film Festival.

TV He has recently directed the second series of The Girl Whisperer a comedy written by & starring Ralf Little for Little Rock Productions and is in post on his new TV series Not For Profit starring Hanna Alström (Kinsgman) and Annica Liljeblad (The Square).

He won Best Director and Best Film at the Accolade film awards for his latest short film ‘The Heart of the Forest’ starring Lourdes Faberes (Knightfall, Someone You Love) and Jessica Henwick (Iron Fist, The Defenders) which has been acquired by Shorts TV.
