Short Form Improv Mastery

By Drew McCreadie

Overview

Unlock the secrets of short form! This workshop dives into the how and why of short form games—boosting skills with every scene.

• You will learn HOW to really perform the Fundamental Games that every improvisor should know how to do, and in a way to maximize audience enjoyment.

• You will discover WHAT skills a particular game helps to develop, and what audience expectations you are likely to face.

• You will be able to identify WHY a particular game works, and be able to use the games built-in success.

• You will learn WHERE to focus your attention, and where the humour lies in wait in each game.

• You will learn WHEN to change routine within a game, when to shift status or objectives, and when to wrap up games.

• You will come to recognize WHO you are when you are in the moment, accepting, and focused on the Motor of a particular game

• You will find out, first hand, HOW MUCH better it feels to be a master of short form.

When have completed the training in this program, you will not only be a better, more confident performer, but you will have a completely different outlook on how to approach new games. Your understanding of the underlying reasons behind the successes (and the underlying failures) of short form games will help you as you take these skills into longer forms of improv. You will develop a stronger instinctual analytical understanding of the structure of games, scenes, and comedy in general. You will be more awesome!
