Description

Professor Tim Lang, City, Professor of Food Policy at City, University of London

The UK food system is already stretched. By many measures, it is unsustainable, contributes to massive health externalities, and is locked into an economic dynamic which squeezes primary producers. What can be done about this? Will Brexit – whatever its form – do anything better? Could a regional-based UK food system provide us with healthy and sustainable diets? What, in short, does the UK want from its food system?

Join us for an exploration into how UK farming and food can contribute to a rebuilding of ecosystems, including discussion on how a benchmark diet could be applied to UK consumers, and its implications for health and eating habits.

Please email sustainableplaces@cardiff.ac.uk if you have any accessibility requirements or require the provision to ask questions in Welsh.

Dewch i’n prif ddarlith flynyddol a gyflwynir gan yr Athro Tim Lang o City, Prifysgol Llundain

Mae system fwyd y DU eisoes o dan bwysau. Mewn nifer o ffyrdd, mae'n anghynaladwy, mae'n cyfrannu at oblygiadau anuniongyrchol enfawr ym maes iechyd, ac mae newidiadau yn y system economaidd yn gwasgu’r prif gynhyrchwyr. Beth ellir ei wneud ynghylch hyn? A fydd Brexit – beth bynnag ei ffurf – yn gwneud unrhyw beth yn well? A allai system fwyd ranbarthol yn y DU gynnig diet iachus a chynaliadwy? Yn syml, beth mae'r DU am ei gael o'i system fwyd?

Ymunwch â ni i weld sut y gall ffermio a bwyd yn y DU gyfrannu at ailadeiladu ecosystemau, gan gynnwys trafodaeth am sut y gellid defnyddio diet meincnod ar gyfer defnyddwyr y DU, a'i oblygiadau ar gyfer iechyd ac arferion bwyta.

Rhowch wybod i ni os oes gennych unrhyw ofynion arbennig o ran mynediad, neu os hoffech i ni roi trefniadau ar waith i'ch galluogi i ofyn cwestiynau yn Gymraeg, drwy ebostio sustainableplaces@caerdydd.ac.uk.
