Introduction

Following the strong interest and insightful discussion sparked by his recent lecture at the Spring Conference of the British Restorative Societies (BRSD, RD-UK & SRRDG).

Dr Chong was struck by how many colleagues— both dentists and hygienists are seeking better ways to guide patients through one of the most sensitive and nuanced discussions in practice: whether to invest in efforts to realistically save a tooth or proceed directly to implant replacement.

In response, our Dr Chong has developed a morning to revisit this core topic in a more detailed way—not as a complex treatment planning challenge, but as an opportunity to strengthen how we explain options to patients, draw from long-term evidence, and support informed decision-making.
