Show and Tell:see how another company does tech doc, in detail
Tuesday, 16 April 2013 from 19:00 to 22:00 (BST)
Cambridge, United Kingdom
About The Presentation
The presentation will demonstrate the documentation tools used at ThirdLight and the key elements of the documentation design. Perhaps the highlight here is the use of video as an integral part of the tech doc and the marketing collateral. All tech doc and videos are produced in-house by Gerry who believes most Tech / Marcomm writers can and should use this format which still has a long way to go in terms of deployment techniques and scenarios.
About Third Light
Third Light builds and markets Intelligent Media Server, a software product that helps you store, manage and publish the exploding number of digital images, photos, videos and audio files you use in company communications in the multi-channel age. Enabling you to create a well-organised media library and serve files on the web from it, IMS is an antidote to the hours you can spend searching drives and directories to find the right media and sometimes not being able to find it at all, though you know you once had it.
Founded in 2002 by Cambridge University graduates Michael Wells and Ben Holland. Third Light has customers all over the world but mainly in the USA and the UK. Based at Stirling House, Waterbeach.
About the speaker
Gerry is an experienced Tech Writer and Marcomms manager with a long track record working in technical B2B scenarios where the marcomms team takes care of all customer communications, guides, technical specs and the full marketing mix. Running teams of up to 17, most recently with WorldPay in the Cambridge Science Park and previously with Royal Bank of Scotland (payment acceptance services).
