We want the world to unite against child sexual exploitation.
“Together we can create more positive outcomes for so many vulnerable young people.” Sheila Taylor CEO – NWG Network
The key to achieving a zero tolerance of Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) is to ensure widespread public knowledge and appropriate mandatory training to all front line professional of the issues and signs that may give an indication that a child is vulnerable.
The National Charity NWG Network asks all to unite against Child Sexual Exploitation for their 2nd National Child Sexual Exploitation Awareness Raising Day – 18th March 2016 (#CSEDay16).
"The sexual exploitation of children and young people under 18 involves exploitative situations, contexts and relationships where young people (or a third person or persons) may receive ‘something’ (e.g. food, accommodation, drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, affection, gifts, money) as a result of performing, and/or others performing on them, sexual activities.
Child sexual exploitation can occur through use of technology without the child’s immediate recognition, for example the persuasion to post sexual images on the internet/mobile phones with no immediate payment or gain. In all cases those exploiting the child/young person have power over them by virtue of their age, gender, intellect, physical strength and/or economic or other resources. Violence, coercion and intimidation are common, involvement in exploitative relationships being characterised in the main by the child or young person's limited availability of choice resulting from their social/economic and/or emotional vulnerability"
The National Child Sexual Exploitation Awareness Raising Day (#CSEDay17) aims to highlight the issues surrounding CSE; encouraging everyone to think, spot and speak out against abuse and adopt a zero tolerance to adults or children developing inappropriate relationships with children.
NWG are committed to the fight against CSE and supporting victims and their families who are subjected to child sexual exploitation. But they cannot succeed without the support of people like you.
Together, we can work to inform, educate and prevent this form of child sexual abuse within the UK.
