What is shuffle dance...?

Shuffle dance has many sub-styles, but the main two are melbourne shuffle and cutting shapes.  Melbourne shuffle is more grounded, focussing on the running man, t-step, glides, spins etc.  Cutting shapes is bouncier , focussing on steps like the charleston, criss cross, scissors etc.

What music is it danced to...?

You can shuffle to any music, as long as it has a strong beat!  BUT shuffling is typically done to EDM (electronic dance music) genres, the kind you would
 hear at raves & festivals... such as house, techno, trance etc.

Do I need previous dance experience...?

This improver class is best for those who already feel comfortable with the key steps (running man, t-step, charleston, criss cross etc.) and are ready to dive further into piecing it all together! If you're brand new to shuffling, then my beginner classes are the best first choice :)

What should I wear to class...?

Accepted Answer

Shoes (usually trainers) should be lightweight and supportive, with medium grip.  Clothes should be whatever you feel most comfy and unrestricted to dance in!

Can I park at the studio...?

Yes!  There is a (small) car park directly opposite the studio that you can use if you're driving in.  If you're coming by public transport, the studio is about a 15 minute walk from temple meads and 25 minute walk from the bus station.

BRING WATER!  we’re going to be working up a sweat...!  Shuffle is quite a high impact dance style, so if you have any pre-existing injuries please just bear that in mind :)
