Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth: A Functional Approach

Birmingham

Thursday 22nd March 6.30 - 9pm

The human gastrointestinal tract is a marvel of physical and microbiological symbiosis that in its healthiest state supports and enhances both our physiological and mental health. Optimal health is easily impaired by simple imbalances of digestive function which can occur at any age and for a wide variety of reasons. One consequence of an impairment of  gastrointestinal function and microbiological imbalance is a condition called Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth often abbreviated to  SIBO. This talk is focused upon identifying the possible symptoms of SIBO and the impact this condition can have upon digestive function and overall health. We will consider the effectiveness of appropriate functional testing as a way of identifying the presence of SIBO and introduce guidance to the therapies available should SIBO be identified.
