SICSA PhD Conference 2017

The SICSA PhD Conference 2017 will take place on Tuesday 27th June and Wedneday 28th June at the University of Dundee
The PhD Conference has become one of the highlights of the SICSA Events calendar, bringing together Computing Science and Informatics PhD students, leading academics and industry practitioners for two days of workshops, poster and demo session, keynote presentations and social activities. The Conference is an event aimed specifically at Informatics and Computer Science PhD students from across Scotland and is organised each year by a committee of PhD students and members of the SICSA Executive.
The event is fully funded by SICSA and there are no registration fees. Delegates from outside Dundee will be accommodated on the evening of 27th June (no accommodation charges will apply).

Academic Writing with LaTeX
Thesis Statements (Years 1 & 2 and Years 3 & 4)
Conference papers and presentations
IBM Workshop - Bluemix / Watson
Ethical, Social, and Professional Concerns in the Information Age
Scientific Methods in Research
The conference will also feature:
Poster / Technology Demo' Sessions
Day and night social activities

Student participants are strongly encouraged to present a poster or show a Technology Demo' of their work at the event. Please enter the title of your poster /demo' during the registration process. This is intended to be an initial indication of the poster’s content; changes to topics after registration are permitted.
Places are limited and registration will be on a first come first served basis. A waiting list will be used in the event that demand for places is higher than the number of places available.
Students who register for the conference (and accommodation if applicable) and fail to attend without giving 5 full working days notice (or suffering exceptional circumstances) will be charged a fee of £100 (no accommodation) or £150 (with accommodation), billed to their school/department. Please note, the conference is a two day event and attendance at both days is mandatory.
