Description

What makes music 'PSYCHEDELIC'? Is it the wavy jangle of the guitar; the irresistable groovy baseline or the tribal beat of the drums?

Nowadays, the Psych music spectrum is so vast and diverse that we can mention Tame Impala and Black Sabbath in the same sentence. Here at Nambucca we plan on celebrating that variety with our new monthly event with gigmit called SIKE!

For our second show we have four more amazing acts all bringing a different element of Psychedelia to London:

CaStLeS
CaStLeS’ music swirls somewhere between Os Mutantes, Ennio Morricone and the misty mountains of Snowdonia, a delightfully hypnotic voodoo groove with reverb soaked melodies.

Brothers Dion and Cynyr Hamer formed the band back in 2008 following many musical project manifestations as a duo, they were later joined by former Derwyddon Dr Gonzo bassist Calvin Thomas.
In 2016, the band earned their debut performance slot on the BBC Introducing stage at Reading & Leeds Festival, and also found success playing shows as part of the Horizons 12 scheme; which included a recording session at the historic Maida Vale Studios in London.

CaStLeS released their debut album, Fforesteering in November 2016. The album got featured in UNCUT Magazine, Shindig! and by December, The Guardian crowned CaStLeS their 'New Band of the Week'.

The Palumbo Phunk
The Palumbo Phunk are a London based funk rock collective formed in 2011 by guitarist, frontman and Australian singer songwriter Dion “Blindman Jumbo” Palumbo. The ensemble was born out of The London Centre of Contemporary Music (LCCM), where Palumbo was inspired to add a horn section and two backing vocalists to his usual 4 or 5 piece rock extravaganza.

Boasting a line up from around the world PATF have become regulars on the London scene. The band perform inspired tunes which go on a musical journey, drawing a line between catchy hooks and choruses with a prog./funk fusion.

A high energy live set incorporates "Sgt Pepper" and James Brown - esque horn lines, funky rhythm, big riffs and harmonies to create a colourful and uplifting atmosphere which takes the audience on an exciting and soulful journey through space and time.

Next Fix
High-octane rock as a guitar and drums duo. That defines the Next Fix sound nicely. Using electronics to trigger downright crazy modern sounds, they send their music off in a new direction every show they play.

Channelling the rock dynamism from the 70's, synth-pop from the 80's and using modern production techniques, Next Fix combines musical styles to create a live set that is full of blustering pop-friendly, high energy sounds. Uniting various influences, such as The Kinks, Depeche Mode, Justice and Daft Punk, Next Fix appeal to an electro, alternative rock, psychedelic audience.

Based in London, the duo has played in venues throughout the city: Camden, Kings Cross, Shoreditch. After the release of their first album and the award winning video-clip "Hot Love", they have their new EP out and it is conquering the hearts and ears of lovers, geeks and thinkers everywhere. Make sure to get your fix!

The Giving Style
The Giving Style is a London-based, Americana-infused indie band. The Giving Style is the brainchild of singer/guitarist Justin Sicile. Sicile is joined by Tasha Caesar (backing vocals, synths, bass, percussions), and Pranas Gudaitis (drums) with special appearances by Becky Morrison (violin) and Daniel Bursuc (beatbox).

American lead singer and guitarist Justin Sicile from New York grew up in a French-speaking household listening to the Beatles, Stevie Wonder, The Doors, Fleetwood Mac, and The Byrds. Sly and the Family Stone, Tribe Called Quest, and The Zombies would later have an influence on Sicile’s song-writing. Sicile, along with illustrator/animator Stella Salumaa, create all the artwork for the band.

The lyrics are twisting and often comical. The guitar riffs are an electric roar, like a punch up between folk and punk. Add dirty, 80's inspired electronics and keys, and a funky rhythm section and we've arrived at The Giving Style.
