Silenced Voices: the experiences of women living with HIV who are subject to domestic abuse.

Lynda Shentall -UCLan

Lynda is conducting doctoral research within the School of Social Work, Care and Community at UCLan. She is researching at the intersection of domestic abuse and HIV. Lynda is a social worker and has worked with women who have experienced domestic abuse throughout her career, she has also worked in the field of HIV for over 25 years.

The study uses a narrative approach and 14 in-depth interviews have been conducted with women living with HIV who have experienced domestic abuse in their lifetime.

In this seminar Lynda will give a brief introduction to the research and discusses her methodology and the preliminary findings. An overview of key issues emerging from the interviews will be presented together with an analysis of a small number of the interviews in case study format.
