Get ready to relax and unleash your creativity whilst learning the art of creating silver jewellery with unique stone settings.

What : An enjoyable full day workshop of silversmithing learning cabochon (flat backed) stone setting creating a pendant or ring from 9.30 to 15.30 with a mid-morning and afternoon break for a cuppa! A light lunch of sandwiches and cakes is included .

Level : This workshop is suitable for complete beginners, you will be given guidance all the way through from the initial design, to making and finishing.

The Studio: The Studio has a maximum of 5 participants, so that the classes are small, friendly and supportive and you will receive plenty of guidance should you need it. The studio is fully equipped, with each of the 5 individual workbenches having the tools necessary for each task and with additional larger working areas for soldering and polishing.

Your tutor: Rachael is an established maker and illustrator with a PGCert in Creative Education and has taught in a University setting for over 25 years, specialising in 3D Art & Design including contemporary craft and jewellery. She is keen to help others tap into their creativity and set up their own rewarding jewellery practice.

Where : Form and Findings Studio is Sudio 4, in the Stable block at Coda.There is easy parking on site with disabled spaces and access if required.

Refreshments : The on site Bramble Hill cafe is open 10.00-15.00 Monday to Friday in July. The cafe maybe closed during August. The studio will provide a light lunch of sandwiches and cakes as well as tea and coffee during the morning and afternoon breaks.

Included : select a semi precious stone from our selection. We will be using either round or oval stones. Many to chose from!

All consumables: saw blades, polish, polishing papers, sand paper etc

Frequently asked questions

What should I bring and what should I wear?

Please wear close toed shoes and ensure your legs are covered. Please wear clothes that you are happy to get dirty (aprons are provided). Please have something to tie your hair back if necessary. Please bring your glasses! I have spares though just in case!

What time shall I arrive?

Please arrive at least 10 minutes before the session so that we can start on time.

Is there on site parking and disabled parking?

Yes there is ample parking on site, including disabled parking.

Is there a cafe?

The on site Bramble Hill cafe is open 10.00-15.00 Monday to Friday in July. The cafe maybe closed during August. The studio will provide tea and coffee during the morning break.

What will I take home?

You will take home a hand made (by you!) sterling silver cabochon pendant, made with a stone of your choice on a sterling silver trace chain. And hopefully a sense of achievement and some newly acquired jewellery skills than you can start to build upon :)
