Description

Marylebone's Respectable Radicals

Did you know that Conan Doyle, the creator of Sherlock Holmes, did a bit of sleuthing himself and that novelist Charles Dickens ran a home for “fallen” women? On this walk, you will meet the dedicated men and women who fought injustice and campaigned to transform education, housing and health for the destitute poor, and learn how Joseph Lister’s pioneering work on disinfecting wounds dramatically reduced deaths following surgery.

No need to book, but spaces are limited

Walks start at 10am, 11am, 12pm and 1pm and last 1 hour

Meet at the Sherlock Holmes statue outside Baker Street Tube station, Marylebone Road, NW1 5LD

Walks end at the Prince Edward, Duke of Kent statue, Park Crescent, W1B 1LT
