This talk will help you to think about your own thought processes and behaviours when it comes to eating. We will look at unhelpful beliefs, thoughts and attitudes about food, eating and dieting, and how to become a more mindful eater. It will be helpful for anyone simply trying to eat more healthily, lose weight and/or achieve successful long-term weight management. The talk will cover various topics such as the common excuses/justifications we use to eat, 'crooked' thinking about dieting and healthy eating, fattening thoughts and attitudes about eating, the black and white yo-yo dieting mindset, obesogenic values that keep people overweight, and the critical inner voice (such as feeling guilty for eating certain foods). Becoming a more mindful eater can really help you to improve your eating habits and achieve successful weight management, and enables you to get into the habit of considering what to eat, how much to eat, whether to eat and the eating process itself, in any given situation.
