INFRASTRUCTURE TRANSITIONS RESEARCH CONSORTIUM (ITRC-MISTRAL)

Mid-programme outputs and achievements

We invite you to join us for a one-day event, demonstrating how big data, computing and visualisations are creating infrastructure systems fit for the future.

Changes to our environmental, social and economic landscape are inevitable, but ITRC-MISTRAL’s pioneering research aims to ensure that the infrastructure that underpins modern life will be resilient and robust to the demands of the next generation.

At the midpoint of our research programme, we will showcase the ITRC’s latest findings and outputs, with examples of how the models, methods, tools and datasets are being applied in the UK and internationally.

Our morning agenda will feature an introduction by James Stewart (Vice Chair - Industrial Strategy, geo-politics & Brexit at KPMG). James also sits on ITRC-MISTRAL's client group. There will also be a series of high level briefings on ITRC-MISTRAL research and its implications for government and businesses.

In the afternoon there will be an opportunity to scrutinise the models and tools in depth, in interactive sessions led by ITRC-MISTRAL researchers. Presentations will feature applications of ITRC-MISTRAL's National Infrastructure Systems MODel (NISMOD), which integrates energy, transport, digital, water and waste systems analysis.

For example:

  • Modelling population, housing and energy demand

  • Policy interventions in transport - road-user charging, road building

  • Telecommunications - modelling the UK's 5G deployment

  • National infrastructure assessment in developing countries

Who should attend?

  • National and local infrastructure planning professionals

  • Technical specialists in critical national infrastructure (energy, transport, telecommunications, water and waste management)

  • Senior policy/decision-makers in infrastructure

  • Infrastructure analysts and researchers

  • Finance and investment specialists

  • Business consultants, risk analysts

As well as finding out about the ITRC's novel research, there will be an opportunity to provide feedback on our work so far, and we are always interested to hear from organisations new to our work.

If you would like to join us for the whole day, please register for both morning and afternoon sessions. Please also tell us if you would like to join us for lunch.
