This course aims to give an understanding of the different challenges Paediatric, Anaesthetic and Emergency Department staff (nurses and doctors) are exposed to.

Through simulation we aim to help teamwork and the understanding of each other's roles in resuscitating and stabilising the sickest children.

Programme includes:

• Paediatric and Anaesthetic view on stabilisation of the critically unwell child
• Meet the Manikin
• Difficult Case Discussion Forum (MDT break-out groups):
• Stabilisation of the child with life threatening Cardiac, Neurology, ENT, Respiratory, Sepsis etc.
• Stabilisation of the critically unwell child – perspective of the Retrieval Team
• With three (3) Simulation Scenarios

Part-tasks in specialty specific groups:

1. Paediatricians & ED doctors: anaesthetic circuits and external jugular cannulation
2. Anaesthetists & ODPs: Paediatric airway issues,
3. Paed airway equipment (bougies, stylets, securing the ET tube for transfer)
4. Nurses: chest physiotherapy, pitfalls in infusion preparation)

Anyone found with the wrong ticket will be informed and redirected to the right ticket, (if available). The Croydon Simulation and Clinical Skills Team reserve the right to not admit anyone in possession of the wrong ticket.

Croydon Simulation and Clinical Skills Centre will not support visa or work permit applications to attend CSSC courses. All delegates must be eligible to attend courses and the Croydon Simulation and Clinical Skills Team reserve the right to not admit anyone who has not shown evidence of a valid visa, work permit and work ID.
