Event description

Description

'Sing Chant' plainsong workshop, 10am-6pm

An exciting and enjoyable opportunity to sing traditional plainsong with others in this beautiful and historic country church.

No experience necessary – all voices, any faith or none.

The workshop is open to anyone who would like to try plainsong for the first time, and to those who love the chant but don't want the commitment of regular rehearsals. Join in for the pleasure of singing with others and exploring music still vibrant after more than a thousand years.

10am: The day begins with refreshments, followed by rehearsals at Elsdon Village Hall.

1pm-2pm: Break for lunch.

2pm-3.45pm: We try out what we've learned in the church and prepare for our short performance.

3.45pm-5pm: A chance to relax - and the opportunity to enjoy an optional afternoon tea (see below).

5pm-6pm: Plainsong performance at St Cuthbert's. Why not invite your family and friends to the performance!

Workshop ticket price includes training, materials and light refreshments during the day. Please bring your own packed lunch.

Please note: even in high summer, the church is a cool place so do dress warmly!

Plainsong performance at 5pm

Your family and friends are welcome to come along to the church for your afternoon plainsong performance, which will start at 5pm. Tickets for the performance are available on the door, just £4 (£3 concessions).

Optional afternoon tea available

In addition, the lovely ladies of the Elsdon Tea Set will be offering a delicious afternoon tea at Elsdon Village Hall, from 2pm, for just £5 per person (pay on the day). This is open to everyone, including plainsong participants and their guests, and available to enjoy before the performance begins.
