Event description

Description

Free but reservation recommended

Enjoy an evening listening to the Sing for Life Speyside Community Choir at the Glasgow School of Art on the Altyre Estate near Forres.

The choir that rocks Speyside. Founded in 2010, Sing for Life Speyside is a community choir open to all adults, regardless of musical ability. Sing for Life provides the opportunity for members of the Speyside community and beyond to meet together to share their love of music and song and all the benefits that taking part in community singing can bring, e.g. the social side - making new friends, developments in musical ability and most important of all - the feel good factor. There are NO auditions.

Initially funded by an award from the Magnus Magnusson Trust, what began as a small PhD research project has evolved into a singing phenomenon taking Speyside by storm!

The choir defines community spirit with additional funding being achieved through community concerts supported by members of the Speyside community, fundraising activities by the choir members themselves, and successful applications to the Windfarm Community Benefit Fund.

Currently attended by over 30 Speysiders, the choir meets in the Rothes Church Hall on Thursday nights 6.30 - 8pm. The choir covers songs from all genres - pop, chart, musicals, blasts from the past, even Scottish and of course seasonal songs at Christmas. There really is something for everyone.

Directed by local Rothes quine Dr. Tara French. - plus join Tara to hear an informative talk about Singing for Wellbeing.
