About the event:

Singapore Community Day 2017 presents a great opportunity for you to connect with the Singaporean community in the UK, whilst giving to the less fortunate back home as part of SG Cares. Singapore Community Day 2017 promises a wide range of food, entertainment and activities, with proceeds going to charity. So mai tu liao (don't wait) - join us in giving back, Singaporean-style, with good food and great fun!


Singapore Day 2017 is proudly brought to you by the Singapore UK Association (SUKA), United Kingdom Singapore Students' Council (UKSSC), Singapore Young Professionals Network Community (SYNC), Singapore Muslim Students Organisation (SMSO) UK Chapter and the Overseas Singaporean Unit (OSU). And of course, the event would not have been possible without the support of our volunteers and generous corporate sponsors.

What's a Singaporean event without our local favourites? Indulge yourself in tantalising Singaporean delights prepared by our London restaurant partners, homemade kueh kuehs and snacks made with love by our Singaporean aunties and quench your thirst with the familiar taste of home, courtesy of Yeo's!

Beneficiaries:
Singapore Community Day 2017 is an opportunity for you to show that you care, by helping the less fortunate in Singapore. As part of the national movement SG Cares, proceeds from Singapore Community Day 2017 will go towards more than 80 social service organisations in Singapore which are supported by Community Chest, allowing them to focus on caring for the disadvantaged. You can be bassured that every dollar goes to benefit someone in need. Thank you for making a difference to our beneficiaries' lives!

  • Who can come for Singapore Community Day 2017?

Singapore Community Day 2017 is an event that is specially organised for Singaporeans, by Singaporeans. All Singaporeans and their immediate family members are welcomed, regardless of nationality. Immediate family members refer to parents, siblings, spouse, children and grandchildren.

  • What can I expect at the Main Stage?

Wonderful homegrown talent, of course! There will be live music and dance performances by Singaporean talents, as well as raffle and lucky draws.

  • What food options will there be?

Every ticket comes with a packed meal and Yeo's drink. We have prepared eight different local favourites for you to choose from and they will be available for collection from 12.00pm - 2.00pm. You can also purchase snacks and kueh kuehs made with love by our Singaporean aunties!

  • Is the packed meal that's included in the ticket Halal-certified?

The packed meals will be catered from restaurants which are Halal-certified.

  • Will there be activities for children?

Definitely! We are a kids-friendly event and we are excited to welcome the little ones on that day. There will be a Kids Corner where they can try their hand at old-school games that their mamas and papas used to play, storytelling sessions by parent volunteers and colouring activities.

  • Does every dollar from my ticket (minus eventbrite transaction fees) go to the beneficiaries under Community Chest?

Yes, it does! You can be assured that every dollar goes towards Community Chest, which supports more than 80 charities back home in Singapore. Community Chest is the charity organisation adopted by the UK/EU Singaporean community for Singapore Community Day 2017. Thank you for making a difference!

  • Must I have an e-ticket to attend the event?

Yes. An e-ticket is required for each individual participant. Please remember to choose the correct ticket category during registration as children under 12 can enter for free. You have the option of paying for your child's ticket as all proceeds from ticket sales go towards charity. For this option, you can click under the £5, £10, £15 or £20 category.

  • Is my ticket transferable or refundable?

Unfortunately, tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable. Associated transaction fees, if any, will also be borne by ticket holders and are non-refundable. All proceeds from ticket sales go the beneficiaries under Community Chest. You can be assured that every dollar goes to charity.

  • What prizes are up for grabs for the raffle and luck draws?

We have some pretty fantastic prizes from our very generous sponsors, including hotel stays, an airticket, F&B vouchers, a meal for 2 hosted by our High Commissioner Foo Chi Hsia and more! The top prize is worth USD10,000!

  • Where can I buy a raffle ticket? How much do they cost, and is there a limit to the number of raffle tickets I can buy?

Raffle tickets will be sold on-site by our roving volunteers. You can also buy your raffle tickets at the raffle booth. There is no limit to how many raffle tickets you can buy. Two raffle tickets costs £5, or you can buy a bundle of five at £10. All proceeds from the raffle sale go to the beneficiaries under Community Chest. We hope to raise as much as possible for the disadvantaged In Singapore. Why not try your luck to see if you are the lucky few to win a prize, whilst showing that #SGcares!

  • Are there parking facilities nearby?

There is a public car park immediately below the Town Hall. Enter Campden Hill Road from Kensington High Street. Turn first right into Phillimore Walk. Turn immediately left down the entrance ramp to the car park.

  • Is the venue wheelchair accessible?

Entrances are wheelchair accessible and there are public bathrooms that are wheelchair accessible.

  • Where can I park my stroller?

Please ask a steward upon arrival where to park your stroller. Space might be limited so please be prepared to fold it and always ensure that any valuables stay with you at all times, as strollers are left at your own risk.

  • Are my donations tax exempt?

Your donations will be tax exempt only in Singapore. Community Chest notes that, as a general rule, outright cash donations given by individuals or corporations to charities with tax deductible status (incld. Community Chest) are entitled to tax deductions.

  • Are there donation boxes at the event?

Yes, there will be donation boxes available at the event for cash donations. Your generous donations will go towards Community Chest, which supports more than 80 charities back home in Singapore. Community Chest is the charity organisation adopted by the UK/EU Singaporean community for Singapore Community Day 2017. Thank you for making a difference!

  • Are pets allowed?

We love our pets, but we ask that all pets be left at home.
