Paul Dodgson is an indie folk singer/songwriter and writer of plays, screenplays and memoir. His acclaimed book On the Road Not Taken: A Memoir About the Power of Music (Unbound, 2019), told the story of falling in love with music as a child and becoming a singer after a thirty-year hiatus. To do this he embarked on a tour that took him to pubs, clubs, theatres and festivals on a road that led from the Isles of Scilly to Berlin.
Paul’s 2019 EP Fire in the Darkness and subsequent releases have clocked up over 100k streams and gained a following around the world. He has written music and lyrics for many theatre shows including The Nutcracker (Nuffield Theatre, Southampton 2013) and Alice Through The Looking Glass (Tobacco Factory, Bristol 2007).
In other aspects of his writing life, he introduced Kat Slater to Albert Square in Eastenders, scripted over 20 plays for BBC Radio 4 and composed the score for BBC Radio 3’s adaptation of The Epic of Gilgamesh.
Hope is the Horizon is the tile of the new album, released on May 2nd on vinyl and streaming via Road Not Taken Records. It was produced by Frank Naughton at Ty Drwg studio in Cardiff and features members of This is the Kit and Hatful of Rain alongside his musical partner, fiddle supremo Ian Harris.
