Singing day with Holly Jacks 2026

By Hum

Overview

A day of learning folk songs and singing in harmony. Open to all.

Holly Jacks is a singer and choir leader from Wales, brought up singing folk harmonies and performing with her sister and friends. Holly now lives in Bristol where she runs a choir and also leads singing sessions that promote well-being through music. With the strong belief that everyone can sing and that singing in unison and harmony is the best medicine for the body and soul, Holly’s warm, charismatic style brings the best out of any group.

Holly will teach a range of beautiful songs from here and around the world, all taught by ear, all voices welcome.

The day begins at 10.45am and ends around 4.30pm, arrive from 10.45am for an 11am start. There will be a pot luck lunch, so please bring a dish to share. We are meeting in St Gluvias community hall, in Penryn there are a few parking spaces available for anyone who needs to park right outside - drop us an email if this is you and we'll organise a permit.

The day has been organised by Hum, a collaborative community singing group based in Penryn. Hum, is like a choir but without a leader, everyone pitches in whether to make the tea, collect the hall money, lead a warm up or teach a song. We sing folk music, including music from other countries and traditions, and occasionally an original song or two.
