Whether as performance or therapy, alone or in a choir, singing is known to improve health and wellbeing, bringing about increased engagement, agency and confidence. But do we understand why and how? This interdisciplinary study day brings together leading researchers, therapists and practitioners. From their diverse corners in the arts and sciences, presenters share what has been learnt from innovative projects and specific interventions to improve singing and speech outcomes or to employ voice work to promote physical and mental integration and wellbeing.
Topics include: Breath, Voice, and Covid: a medical perspective; Beatboxing for Muscular Dystrophy and Cystic Fibrosis; Singing for Lung Health (COPD, Asthma, and pulmonary fibrosis); Therapeutic Application of Osteopathy to Singing; Songwriting for Perinatal Mental Health; The Longevity of the Female Voice; Singing for Health Network: a Community Project

Recordings:
All sessions will be recorded and available to paid-up delegates for 2 months beyond the event. You will need to register for the event in order to receive the recordings. They are not available for purchase post-meeting.
Cancellation policy for a BVA event
In the event an applicant cancels their place at a BVA course or conference, they are entitled to the following refund
4 weeks or more = 90% refund Between 4 -1 weeks = 25% refund
From 1 week to the day of event = no refund (under any circumstances, including illness)
Online courses: The BVA is not responsible for Internet speed or any other connection issues you may encounter. We do not offer refunds for bandwidth, connection or latency issues, these should be taken up with your Internet Service Provider.
Should the BVA cancel a course, a full refund will be offered.
