During this singing workshop choir leader Fran André will teach a range of uplifting and joyful gospel songs, and spirituals of the African American people, interwoven with the history of the music.
These songs are infectiously joyful, and so much fun to sing.
All ages 12 & over are welcome - no previous singing experience needed. Songs will be taught by ear and in a relaxed and fun way.
Doors open 12.30 for workshop start at12.45. Refreshments available.
Fran André has a passion for teaching music of the African diaspora, and alongside this, raising awareness of the increased need for the full cultural honouring of music from other cultures. She is a woman of mixed heritage with ancestral roots in Mauritius, going back to East & West Africa and India, and England.
Fran is a bringer of truly joyful song medicine and her singing leading contains both a blend of uplifting energy and a reflective tone. She has previously created and led Soul of the City Gospel Choir in Exeter, Jubilation Choir, Friday Morning Singing!, Dartington Monday Fun Choir, and has led various day singing workshops over the years.
