Singing the World, A Dawn Chorus: Exhibition & Sound Installation
Date and time
Explore bird communication in print and music
About this event
"Imitating with the mouth the fluid voices of birds came long before men were able to sing together in melody and please the ear" Lucretius (94–55BC): De Rerum Natura
Prints by Mike Collier and music by Bennett Hogg inspired by listening to a dawn chorus in a Northumberland woodland garden—a choir of sixteen birds heard early one morning in May. Come and spend time with the artworks and get close to song- bird’s music, reinterpreted for us in this restful and thoughtful exhibition.
The exhibition continues in the foyer with a beautiful animation of Mike’s work with soundtrack by Bennett Hogg. In the café, you can hear other sound installations inspired by Mike and Bennett’s experience of the Dawn Chorus
