Sip and Ceramic
Overview
Sip and Ceramic Workshop - Stoneleigh Library (by the station)
Join Nonsuch Ceramics for a cosy, creative festive workshop exploring sgraffito — the decorative clay-carving technique loved by artists including contemporary maker Grayson Perry.
The sgraffito method involves carving through coloured clay slips to reveal the contrasting clay beneath, producing beautifully detailed, one-of-a-kind designs.
In this hands-on session, you’ll work on two pre-prepared decorations and learn to use a range of carving tools to create your own unique patterns and illustrations. You’ll experiment with coloured slips and discover how to achieve striking decorative effects through thoughtful composition and the interplay between surface and form.
You can choose to have your finished decorations clear glazed or left unglazed.
All materials and kiln firings are included, and no previous ceramics experience is needed – just bring your festive spirit and creativity!
To start the evening, enjoy a complimentary glass of bubbles and a mince pie to get into the festive spirit.
Throughout the evening, wine, bubbles, mince pies and crisps will also be available to purchase.
