The Asia Scotland Institute is delighted to feature Sir Danny Alexander as a speaker in 2017.

Sir Danny Alexander currently is the Vice-President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, and the UK's most senior representative at the Beijing Head Office. He was Chief Secretary to the Treasury between 2010 and 2015. He was the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch & Strathspey constituency from 2005 until the general election in May 2015.

The Asia Infrastructure Investment Bank was set up in 2015 as a multilateral investment bank designed to provide much needed capital for a range of infrastructure projects across Asia, from power plants in Myanmar, to new highways in Pakistan. A significant new addition to the existing networking of multinational institutions that include the World Bank, and International Monetary Fund, the projects in which the AIIB invests also provide significant international opportunities for the UK and Scotland.
