SWS NOVEMBER MEETING - PARENTING ISSUES, THURSDAY 3rd November 7.15pm – 9.30pm
Two invaluable sessions to help those who have a child or children in their life to feel a little calmer and better equipped to deal with the joys and the demands of childhood.
Session One - Listening to our Children 7.15pm – 8.15pm..with Brenda Keddie, Senior Early Years Officer from Hailesland Early Years Centre.
Brenda is an expert on sleeping patterns but also brings many years of experience in working with the early years of childhood which are so crucial in the development of children. This first session will include a time for "trouble shooting" behaviours with questions and discussion.
8.15pm - 8.30pm Refreshments break with Hot Chocolate and treats!
Session Two - Listening to Ourselves: How to get what you need as a parent 8.30pm - 9.30pm with Sarah Wheatley, counsellor and coach who specialises in working with parents and people who would like to be parents.
Sarah has a specific interest in Perinatal Mental Health which has led her to look at what supports parents at all stages. Sarah works privately in Portobello and also with both Juno Perinatal Mental Health Support and Antenatal Results and Choices.
Hands up if you ever find being a parent challenging?! Parenthood can be hard and learning what makes you tick as a parent is useful in order to support yourself (and enable others to support you). There is no ‘right’ way to be a parent, and this session will be a fun, informative and non-judgemental workshop to start to explore what helps you find your mojo as a parent, and how to get past any barriers.
