Who is this day for?

This day is for those who've either attended one of my classes before or are already able to sew but would like the space, company and guidance throughout the day.

Details

This is not a structured event, I will not run a lesson, but it gives you the opportunity to take time out in a big space to get on with your sewing, pick my brain and chat with like-minded people. If you have attended one of my classes before but need a reminder on how to do something, come along, I will help you figure it out or give you a recap.

What will I make during the day?

This is a freestyle day where you make what you want. I will be on hand to advise, and I will bring a few kits if you're unsure what you want to do. It's unlike my usual class, where we all make something together, but rather a social space to give yourself time to make and do. No materials are provided although I will bring some bits and pieces if you just want to turn up and sew.

Please bring to class:

  • Sewing machine (please ensure it works. If you don't have a sewing machine, it may be possible to rent one from me but please contact me first to confirm).
  • Your basic sewing kit.
  • Thread.
  • The project/s you are going to work on.

Refreshments

Tea and coffee is provided. There is nowhere nearby to get lunch so please bring a packed lunch with you.

Parking

There is ample free parking at Westbury.

Testimonials

"I am attending the beginners learn to sew with a machine class that Steph runs. It is fantastic and I highly recommend it. After three weeks of this class, I am able to sew a drawstring bag, a reversible tote bag and a cushion cover with button fastening. I never thought I would be able to do that! After three years of school needlework lessons, I couldn't make anything!! Steph breaks everything down into simple steps and is so relaxed and patient that even a complete beginner like me can do it! I can't wait for the next lesson". Diane

"Steph is a great teacher, she gives you lots of practical and hands on activities where you actually produce something creative at the end of it! Through her sewing classes she has really inspired me to learn more. Steph’s own designs are fun, colourful and modern, sometimes thought provoking. She likes to move with the times, but her designs remain true to her style". Jenni

Steph Thannhauser has 35 years of sewing experience. In fact, she can’t remember a day when she wasn’t making or sewing something. She started young and has never stopped. Steph did a degree in Printed Textiles at Loughborough College of Art and Design then subsequently worked in-house and in freelance, creating art for many different products and clients. Her favourite thing to do is design patterns which can then be used in sewing projects.

Teaching people to sew and sharing her love of creativity was a natural progression for Steph. She teaches in the Milton Keynes area but is also planning to teach online too.

Please take a look at her website and sign up to her mailing list.
