Pat Gordon-Smith is Commissioning Editor at UCL Press for education and related social sciences, archaeology, heritage, history and museum studies, law, and related areas.

They will give insights into publishing work, explore common pitfalls, and give tips on academic book publishing, answering audience questions at the end of the event.

This online event will be particularly useful for researchers and practitioners interested in publishing their own research as a monograph or proposing an edited collection, especially those with less experience of the publishing process.

Sit with the Editor seminar series

The ‘Sit with the Editor’ series provides a series of relaxed, face to face and online forums for the research community to engage with editors from prestigious journals. Editors help clarify the policies and processes behind publishing, give an insight into the publication, demystify the submissions process, and offer advice for prospective authors.

The series aims to support researchers in making steps towards publishing their work in an educational journal. It has a particular remit to support researchers from the Global South, researchers with English as a second or other language, and early career researchers.
