Tue 5 July 2016, 10:15 – 15:15 BST
UK AD & Biogas 2016 - site visit
Brandon Grange Farm,
Time: 10.15 – 15.15 (coach pick up and drop off at Crown Plaza NEC Birmingham)
Originally the farm used to have Dairy Cows, Potatoes and Cereals. The Dairy finished in Summer 2010 and we started exploring the idea of using the existing dairy/silage infrastructure in 2013. The Potato side of the business ceased in 2014, with the storage buildings being used for drying produce. The core farm continues as an arable business, as well as providing 150ha of maize to the AD business. The farmed area is approx 350ha.The AD plant was built by MT Energie and consists of 2 tanks. Both tanks are gas tight, heated and insulated. The AD plant is fed predominantly on Maize silages as well as pig and poultry manures. The plant feeds a 499kw 2G CHP and 3 sub 190kw biogas boilers. The heat from the CHP and boilers is used for drying digestate, Wood Chips and agricultural products.
