Site visit to Blavatnik School of Government

The Oxford Club of Constructing Excellence is pleased to invite you to the ninth event of our 2015 calender. In conjunction with the Chartered Institute of Building you are cordially invited to visit the site of the Blavatnik School of Government in Oxford. The new building, which is due to complete in the aumtmn of 2015, will provide a permanaent home to the School which is presently spread across 3 seperate sites. The facility has been designed to promote open discussion, interaction and collaboration. The lower ground floor incorportaes two horseshoe-shaped lecture theatres providing seating for 120 and 80 people, which are designed to facilitate interaction with state of the art audio visual facilities.
The building will be certified BREEAM Excellent utilising the building’s thermal mass to absorb and store daytime heat which is released to cooler air in the evening.
The School, Herzog De Meuron (Architects), Hoar Lea (Services Engineer) and Laing O'Rourke (Contractor) will proudly explain aspects of the project and the visit to site will provide an opportunity to view the facility as it progresses towards completion.

Oxford Club of Constructing Excellence
The Oxford Club of Constructing Excellence was established in 2000 and our members include clients in the local area, together with designers, consultants, contractors, academics, specialists and suppliers. Our aim is to enable joined up thinking between members of the construction industry and to establish Oxford as a centre of excellence in construction. We will be running events throughout the year to share industry knowledge and best practice and provide networking opportunities. We welcome local companies involvement, and support from local authorities, business and academia.
