Site Visit to Lasdun Wall, University of East Anglia
Overview
MACE Contractors invite you to a behind-the-scenes tour of the University of East Anglia’s iconic Lasdun Wall, as this mid-century architectural landmark enters a bold new era of sustainable design.
Originally built in the 1960s and now Grade II listed, Lasdun Wall is undergoing a four-phase refurbishment that blends heritage with innovation. This project includes the single largest extension to a listed post-war building in the UK, making it a landmark in both architectural preservation and modern construction.
Phase one is transforming Building 3 into state-of-the-art science facilities and teaching spaces, while the remaining buildings continue to support UEA’s world-class research. Using advanced construction technologies and circular economy principles, the project is driving significant carbon savings and supporting UEA’s net zero goals.
Beyond sustainability, this transformation is creating jobs and apprenticeships, reinforcing UEA’s commitment to the local community.
Join us to explore how an architectural icon is becoming a blueprint for low-carbon, future-ready learning environments.
