We are joined by Prof. John Buckley from the University of Chester and Lead Ergonomist Katharine Metters from Posturite to discuss both the cardio metabolic and musculoskeletal benefits of sit/stand working and its impact on individuals and organisations.
Reams of research over the last few years have linked too much sitting with serious health conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, obesity and even cancer. Yet we continue to do it, or is the trend changing? Recent research by Prof. John Buckley from University of Chester showed “Standing up for three hours extra a day would burn off 8lb (3.6kg) of fat each year”. This worldwide research created huge interest on sit/stand working and has subsequently encouraged more studies and awareness on the subject and the benefits it will have on individuals based at their desks for the majority of the day.
We will also be looking into recent case studies of such practice. We hope you can join us.
