Presented By: Dawn Tomalin a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist
During this workshop, Dawn will share her expertise and offer guidance on fostering effective communication in situations where speech difficulties arise.
The session will cover:
- what is and isn't Situational Mutism
- an insight into what else might be happening if it is not Situational Mutism
- how best to support
- the role of a speech therapist with children and young people who are selectively mute
Dawn is an independent speech and language therapist with over 14 years experience. Her background includes working for different NHS trusts across the East Midlands, working in an independent specialist school for autistic children and young people and is now working independently carrying out initial and EHCP assessments, running workshops and training sessions as well as 1:1 direct therapy. Dawn’s specific interests include Autism, Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) and Situational Mutism. She has extensive experience working with children and young people who have emotional based school avoidance (EBSA), education based trauma and who have an Education Otherwise Than In School (EOTIS) package of care.
