Kids' Art Club
3 November - 15 December (7 weeks)
NEW Venue: Surbiton Hill Methodist Church
5-9 year olds only
Led by Kate Andrews and Pauline Hennessey.
The course will take kids on a journey through the nature of creativity and human imagination. There'll be experiments, collaborations, projects and mindfulness. Kids will learn craft skills, such as marbling and observational drawing, as well as life-long creative skills such as empowerment, resillience and innovation.
"This is the best after-school club we've ever been to!" Mother
Each class starts and ends with a mindful activity and includes group and individual elements. Children will be given their very own sketchbook and be mentored through the course to build upon an area of interest. They can bring sketchbooks to each class for feedback and encouragement - introducing them to self-directed study.
Tickets are £10 per week for a 90minute lesson. We do offer drop in tickets if there are spaces, however this is rare and we advise children to come for a half term or term to really get the most out of the learning. Book early to avoid disappointment and kids' receive a free Sketchbook and art bag for the term.
Children must wear art outfits - mess is guarenteed! An old tshirt and leggings or trousers are ideal, and maybe a warmer jumper too. Children receive a sketchbook of their own, which they are encourage to fill up during the term and share with the club each week. Feedback and supporting peers is a key part of our lessons. Materials are provided and water is always available for children.
Please note this class is for 5 year olds and over. It is a beginner's class, however we expect children to be able to be independent in class and do not advise 4 year olds to join us just yet! For older children, please register your interest by emailing Kate at firstname.lastname@example.org as we are looking into an intermediate level club for those who have been through a term (12 weeks) or more of the beginners club.

We believe creativity is educated out of young people today and is directly connected to the state of mental ill-health in our young adults. We are here to show you why and how we can change this. SketchBetter provides opportunities and educational classes in the visual arts and mindfulness. Based on the latest research in Positive Psychology we’re designing new services and building collaborations. We are here to bring practical services and opportunities that celebrate the importance of creativity and purpose for human well-being and happiness. Our vision is to make life that little bit better.
