SketchBetter Kids Art Exhibition
16-21st July 2016
(Private View Friday 15th July, 4.30-7pm)
Dear Parents and Guardians,
After a passionate request from some of the children at SketchBetter I am excited to announce that we will be running the very first annual Art Exhibition by and for the children of SketchBetter. In sync with the International Youth Arts Festival in Kingston, and in partnership with Cass Art London and Ignite! Futures, the exhibition will run from 16-21 July 2016.
This is an exhibition exclusively for all children who have attended a SketchBetter Art Club or had SketchBetter private tuition, between July 2015 and July 2016 and each child is invited to exhibit 1-2 pieces of work of their choosing.
Entries of work can be any medium: perhaps it will be their clay sculptures, their oil pastel animals, observational drawing or maybe it is a piece of marbling that they are especially proud of. Self-directed work done in their own time – like canvas paintings or larger work – is welcome too, on prior approval. The show will be a celebration of learning, so process work is as welcome as final masterpieces! I have a list of work I would especially love to see in the show and can help select work with your child if they are finding it tough to choose! I am looking to create a show that captures the creativity, enthusiasm, growth and potential of all the SketchBetter Kids. There will be a special display of all the children’s sketchbooks – for other children and visitors to have a look through – so all participating children are asked to submit these too.
The exhibition will be open from Saturday 16th July – Wednesday 21st July, at The Art Space above Cass Art in Kingston. All participating children are also invited to a special Private View event on Friday 15th July (4.30-7pm) to see the show, before the general public. At the children’s request a ribbon will be cut! We ask all the children to wear an outfit of their choosing that makes them feel GREAT!
