Join us for a relaxed early afternoon art session at Thimblemill Library, held alongside the La Vaca Mariposa / The Butterfly Cow exhibition.
This workshop is all about exploring fashion illustration in a fun, experimental way. Whether you’re a seasoned sketcher or just curious, you’ll be invited to play with different mediums, try out new approaches, and enjoy the process of drawing and painting without pressure.
What to expect:
- A gentle introduction to fashion illustration, with a look at key illustrators and their techniques
- A relaxed group discussion around iconic runway shows and moments in fashion history
- A short live demo to spark ideas
- Time to sketch, paint, and experiment with your own unique style
- Space to share and chat through your work with others in an informal “mini runway” of illustrations
Materials:
Bring along any art supplies you’ve been meaning to try out — that sketchbook you’ve never opened, those paints you’ve never tested, or any favourite tools you already love. Basic materials will also be provided, so there’ll be plenty to experiment with.
This session is less about perfection and more about play, observation, and enjoying fashion as inspiration. All levels welcome.
