Makayla and Jim will be live rapid storytelling and drawing using a surprise visual card game. This is an interactive hangout thus those attending will be expected to take part in activities. We promise they will be fun :-)


Dr Makayla Lewis

By day, Dr. Makayla Lewis has a passion for inductive HCI and participatory visual methods and has a PhD in HCI from City University London. She uses HCI and participatory visual methods to draw out an understanding of how people influence the management of their data and how they use social networks to extend and maintain this influence. Currently, Makayla is Senior Research Associate: Research into Cyber Security Body of Knowledge at Security Lancaster Research Centre and School of Computing and Communications (Lancaster University). By night, Makayla is also an accomplished visual thinker, sketcher and visual note taker and her work has been featured with three visual thinking books. Makayla is a daily sketcher and sketchnoter who also enjoys sharing her process of visual thinking by organising international Sketchnote Hangout, SketchnoteLDN meetup and sketchnote workshops. She is often seen in meetings, seminars, conferences and events sketchnoting and has provided visuals for a multitude of organisations and conferences. Dr Jim O' Donnell

Web developer at Zooniverse, currently developing a web interface to transcribe trench diaries from the Western Front during the First World War. More generally, interested in how Zooniverse can help digital history projects. Jim is new to sketchnoting offering a unique and fresh approach to tackling the #SNchallenge visual icon library.
