Skill Acquisition and Talent Development in Sport

About the event:
This two-day event will explore the contemporary theoretical ideas on skill acquisition and talent development in sport.

Delegates will have the opportunity to consider the practical application of the key scientific principles underlying the constraints-led perspective on developing skilled and talented athletes. This workshop will provide an understand of the applied scientific principles behind how to create an ecological context that helps learners to enhance their skill, athleticism and talent in different sports.

The workshop will draw on expertise from the Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre (AWRC) and will be led by experts in skill acquisition, along with world leading practitioners and academics.

Who is the event for?
This event is specifically aimed at those working in SME's within sport / movement / physical activity /exercise / health promotion sector that are in the Sheffield City Region.

Anticipated outcomes for Attendees:
- A greater understanding of the learner and learning process from the constraints-led perspective on skill acquisition and talent development in sport, physical activity and exercise. Key ideas in constraints-based coaching will be presented and developed to facilitate application to practice in sports.
- Opportunity to refect on your own experiences and discuss ideas, learn and apply more advanced concepts to take your coaching, teaching and training to the next level.
- Opportunity to network with some world-leading experts and practitioners who use the constraints-led perspective in their work with elite and development athletes
- Opportunity to develop a theoretically-driven, personal philosophy on learners and the process of learning
- Better understanding of Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre (AWRC) / Centre for Sports Engineering Research Centre (CSER) technology, expertise and facilities and Sheffield Hallam University
- Understanding how to personally undertake applied scientific research that will help enhance the practive and dunction of sports organisations.
- Knoweldge of pathways to engage with the AWRC / CSER through the Sheffield Innovation Programme (SIP)
