About this event
The Skills Bootcamp in Coaching and Mentoring has been designed to directly respond to the growing need for effective coaches and mentors who can unlock potential, enhance performance, and support growth and development within organisations across all sectors.
The Skills Bootcamp starts on 9th October and will run until 30th March 2026.
Enrolments for the course will take place during the first day, during which you will also have the opportunity to meet with a trained Guidance Officer to discuss career aspirations and any additional support or accessibility requirements and discover the benefits of becoming an adult learner with Truro and Penwith College.
Course Outline:
The Skills Bootcamp in Coaching and Mentoring is a thirteen-day course designed for adult learners, aged 19 and over, who are leaders and managers from any industry or sector who are invested in developing their teams through effective coaching and mentoring. It is ideal for those leaders wishing to enhance the skills and confidence of their team members, leading to enhanced efficiency, effectiveness and motivation. The Skills Bootcamp blends relevant theory, latest research and significant opportunities to practise skills in a safe and supportive environment.
The course covers core Coaching and Mentoring theory, with a focus on application and skills development.
Learners will explore the appropriateness of Coaching and Mentoring as development activities, ensuring compliance with ethical standards. Participants have significant opportunities to apply tools and techniques within the course, encouraging personal insight, reflective practice and peer support. Practical application is supported through work based assignments and personalised feedback
By attending the Skills Bootcamp in Coaching and Mentoring, learners will:
· Build knowledge of Coaching and Mentoring techniques and how these can be applied in a workplace context.
· Develop key coaching skills, such as active listening, insightful questioning, and effective goal setting
· Gain confidence to provide effective coaching and mentoring through supported peer coaching sessions.
· Enhance the skills and confidence of colleagues through your coaching and mentoring
· Learn from real-world scenarios and peer collaboration and benefit from ‘live’ engagement sessions with coaches and mentors from a range of local progressive organisations.
· Gain an internationally recognised ILM Level 3 Coaching qualification, which is valued by employers.
Assessment is completed through three work-based assignments, which includes a coaching diary and the recording of a minimum of 6 hours’ workplace coaching. Although this course does include supported time for individual project work, this course also requires some self-directed study outside of the scheduled sessions.
Learners will also benefit from access to industry experts and local employers, who will share their insights to assist you with your next steps for employment or professional development.
