The Skills Bootcamp in Cyber Security has been designed to meet the increasing demand for professionals who can protect organisations, data, and individuals against cyber threats in a rapidly evolving digital world.
Introductory Session:
• Course starts on 3rd November 2025 and runs until 2nd February 2026
• Opportunity to meet with expert Lecturers in Cyber Security, Networking and IT Systems Management
• Take part in taster activities to gain an overview of the tools, platforms, and study requirements of the full taught programme

• Meet with trained Guidance Officers to discuss career aspirations and any additional support or accessibility requirements.
Course Outline:
The Skills Bootcamp in Cyber Security is an eleven-week programme designed for adult learners, aged 19 and over, who want to develop technical and professional skills to start or progress a career in the fast-growing cyber security sector. The course blends theoretical knowledge with hands-on, practical training to prepare learners for real-world security challenges.
Learners will develop an understanding of cyber threats, attack methods and defence strategies, alongside practical skills in system security, network protection and data safeguarding. They will also explore wider issues such as risk management, governance and compliance.
Participants will take part in practical labs, scenario-based exercises and peer-supported workshops to simulate real security incidents and industry practices.
By attending the Skills Bootcamp in Cyber Security, learners will:
· Understand the fundamentals of cyber security, including key threats, vulnerabilities and risk management strategies.
· Gain hands-on experience with industry-standard tools for monitoring and detecting.
· Create policies and processes for security incident response and business continuity.
· Develop skills in secure network design and monitoring, network security, firewalls, intrusion detection systems and encryption techniques.
· Explore cyber security compliance frameworks, regulations, and legal responsibilities.
· Learn about vulnerability management and ethical hacking, penetration testing and secure coding practices.
· Understand how to safeguard sensitive data, protect against malware and respond to phishing and social engineering attacks.
· Build problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills essential to the cyber security profession.
· Learn from industry experts with experience in cyber security operations, information assurance and digital forensics.
· Work towards creating a professional skills portfolio to demonstrate practical competence and readiness for employment or career progression.
Learners will also benefit from access to guest speakers and industry experts who will share insights into cyber security career pathways, job opportunities and employment trends within the Digital sectors.

Cost:
Thanks to funding from the Department for Education, there is no charge for individuals looking to re-train or upskill. SME employers will only need to pay 10% of the course fee if they enrol a member of staff (£265), whilst large organisations will be asked to contribute 30% (£794).
