Skills Development Day, Skipton
Style and content
Skills Development Days are very interactive and are "learning by doing it" days. The emphasis therefore is on trying out techniques, putting theory into practice, comparing notes with people from other groups and discussing what would work best in certain circumstances. Topics covered include preparing effective teaching, leading worship, planning a meeting, enabling participation and using language so as to be understood.
If the Skills Development Day is so activity-based, is there time for any teaching of theory or principles?
In response to the comments of delegates on earlier training days, we have increased the practical content and taken most of the theory out of the Skills Development Day.
A vital part of the preparation is to listen to the audio teaching whose content can be downloaded here.
