Description

We’re delighted to be working with Oldham Council and Oldham Opportunity Area to offer Skills for Life programmes to Oldham primary schools.

This course will help the school to meet the requirements for the Oldham Whole School Approach to Emotional Health and Mental Wellbeing Framework by strengthening your universal curriculum offer.

All schools who have completed their Whole School Approach Framework Self-Assessment Form and Action Plan and returned this to the Mental Wellbeing Team are entitled to a fully funded place on this training.

Skills for Life Training Day

A full day training for teachers or HLTAs to deliver the Skills for Life programmes - Zippy's Friends, Apple's Friends and Passport.

What are Zippy's Friends, Apple's Friends and Passport?

Zippy's Friends, Apple's Friends and Passportare mental health promotion programmes for years 1 or 2 (Zippy) years 3 or 4 (Apple) years 5 or 6 (Passport). They has been proven to devlop children's social and emotional skills, improve the class climate and reduce bullying. It is delivered to the whole class over 18-24, 45 minute sessions.

Our programmes meet all elements of the Mental Wellbeing requirements of the statutory guidance for Relationships and Health Education for primary schools in England and support many other key requirements.

Who should attend?

The class teacher or another education professional who can deliver the programme to the class. Only those who attend the training day will be able to deliver the programme. A maximum of two staff members per school.

What's included?

The training covers everything you'll need to run the programme with your children including theoretical background, content of the programme, materials used and evaluation.

After the training, each participant will receive the materials needed to teach Zippy's Friends, Apple's Friends or Passport to their class (1 programme/resource set per participant).

Lunch will be provided.
