What’s the workshop about?

That first managerial role brings much responsibility, but can sometimes be daunting and challenging. This course is designed to help new managers build confidence and feel better equipped to manage staff. It will suit new managers, aspiring managers, team leaders and anyone else responsible for managing staff or volunteers.

What will it cover?

  • What makes a manager

  • Building trust

  • Motivating and engaging with your team

  • Dealing with conflict

This introductory level workshop will consider what it means to lead and manage. It will look at ways to engage and motivate staff; and also to deal with conflict. Throughout, the emphasis will be on best practice with a view to harnessing the enthusiasm and trust of those you manage.

Outcomes

Participants will have

(a) Increased confidence in their role as a manager

(b) Raised awareness of how to communicate, motivate and engage with staff

The Trainer

The workshop is being run by David Green from Green Pepper Consulting, a Leicestershire based social enterprise that works with VCSE and other civil society organisations specialising in improving working relationships, an ethical approach to leadership and management, and effective use of social media. David has many years’ experience in employment relations, including 14 years in a management role.
