Session outcome: Atteendees will leave with an expert-led understanding of the main legal issues that business owners must consider when running a start-up or small business.
Starting up a business can be an extremely exciting adventue, however without the right legal advice it can also be an overhwleming legal minefield.
This event will cover the common legal considerations you need to be aware of when setting up and running a business (whether you are a Freelancer, Sole Trader or Limited Company).
This event will bed led by, Susie Mortonson who is a partner at Harrowells Solicitors, a leading regional law firm which has offices across North and East Yorkshire.
Susie leads the team specialising in corporate and commercial law. The business sector in the local region has always been very diverse and characterised by healthy levels of business start-up’s and expansion; so it is no surprise that Susie and her team have considerable experience of helping entrepreneurs put in place practical legal arrangements that help nurture and protect their businesses – whether in terms of corporate structure, funding or commercial contracts.
Susie has a very pragmatic and commercial approach and always aims for her legal advice to be seen as enabling a business to progress whilst encouraging opportunity and drive.

What room will we be in?
HG/013 which is in the Holgate building and is easily accessible via two entrances at either side of the main reception.
What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?
There is bike storage and a frequent bus service to the campus, which is also easily accessible by foot from the city city centre
As this is a city centre campus, there is no parking onsite except for visitors with a disabled badge.
There are several public car parks nearby.
